Mr. Portelance preceded me in praise of the song, which I second. I see I shall have to redouble my effortlessness.

Great message and love that song. It's on my car playlist between Wiggle & Shake and Little Red Corvette. Keep up the wonderful writing. Thanks

"...the more we chase something, the further it runs from us." - I like this and it makes total sense. I also agree with you when you say "Feeling good is the path to looking good." When you feel good, it's going to show. I need to remember this.

Fernando on SNL always said it is better to look good than to feel good.

Feel better. Looking well kept is good but we most definitely do not need to be engaged in eternal youth practices and endlessly trying to prolong our lives. We need to figure out radical acceptance.

This was the perfect message for me today. I have had a lifelong battle with my weight, and a good friend I partner with on my health efforts has decided to start using weight loss drugs. I want to take another path, and your words reinforced my choice. Have a blessed day!

Love the song! There is a play about Nina Simone, locally, at Indiana Repertory Theater. I can’t wait to see it.

Great message- I observe a tendency on social media to curate a look or lifestyle. It must be exhausting!

Thank you, this is a wonderful reminder. I workout to feel good and feel my body respond in a healthy, strong way. I am of an age where I no longer strive to be a certain way but many young people don't have that confidence or trust that these exterior things are not important.

DMS I applaud you for this well written piece, so beautifully done! As a retired plastic surgeon, I have much to say about this topic, and can concur that you articulated my philosophy beautifully. My shift from plastic surgeon to SOUL Surgeon was based in part on my realization that beauty is cultivated within and not as the physical body. I am in the midst of writing a pub that speaks to this . Imagine if we took all that energy and put it into cultivating inner beauty ! We would be living in a different world. Thank you for bringing this tremendously valuable PSA to light . 🙏🏻✨

When I'm in Paris, I marvel at the vast swath of beauty that the women there embrace. There's much less of the desperate chasing of youthful appearance. Rather, the women I see on the street seem to maximize the allure inherent in their particular age. That works for a 19-year-old, obv, but it also works for an 80-year-old. Their beauty isn't spackled onto their outsides, but rather, radiates from within. And that works however long you've been walking the planet.
