Every morning when I awaken, I feel the quiet rhythm of purpose beating through the marrow of my being.
It’s not just a vague whisper in the distance. Instead, it’s a drum, steady and relentless, keeping time with every breath I take.
My mission is a fire that does not dim, a force that bends me inward even as it propels me outward into the world.
Robin Sharma’s words—“Until your mission is an obsession, nothing will change in your life”—echo in the caverns of my soul.
This is not a mere call to action; it’s an ultimatum from the universe: become what you are or forever dwell in mediocrity. For me, there’s a sacred urgency in doubling down on this purpose, transforming it into an obsession that transcends comfort and fear.
My obsession? It’s the Chocolate Taoist, a philosophy of living drawn from the deep well of Taoist wisdom, shaped by my journey as a Black, nomadic soul.
It’s the confluence of ancient Eastern philosophy with the ever-evolving narratives of my life, a dance between stillness and expansion, rootedness and freedom.
I’ve walked countless paths, lived in many cities and suburbs, sought connection, and found solace in detachment. All along, I’ve been guided by the Tao, that silent, mysterious force that flows through everything, a force I seek to impart to others who are hungry for an inner connectedness that goes beyond the superficial.
Taoism is about moving with the current of life — not forcing but flowing. Yet, paradoxically, this flow only emerges when one is fully aligned with a deep inner purpose.
Sharma’s assertion that “greatness begins beyond your comfort zone” is your call to stretch past the inertia that comes with ease, to allow the discomfort of obsession to shape and mold you.
For, as I am discovering, when you truly embrace a meaningful life, comfort is the enemy. For it’s in discomfort that growth is born, where the path of least resistance meets the edge of transformation.
My life has been an exercise in navigating this delicate balance. I’ve felt the lure of complacency, the temptation to settle into roles, identities, and situations that others deem “enough.”
But enough is a prison. I am not interested in simply existing. The Chocolate Taoist is about living expansively, about cultivating a life where the inner landscape is as rich and boundless as the outer.
For me, it’s about dissolving the boundaries between self and world, finding unity in multiplicity, and embracing the contradictions inherent in a nomadic existence.
I’ve come to see my obsession as a blueprint, a road map for others seeking to live in a state of flow while being firmly rooted in purpose.
There is a saying in the Tao Te Ching: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” But it’s not just about taking that first step; it’s about continuing to step forward, even when the road is rough, even when you’re unsure where it leads.
Each step is an act of devotion, a testament to the power of obsession when it’s aligned with the greater good. My mission is to impart this Taoist wisdom, to show how an inner obsession with purpose can be a guiding light through life’s most complex and uncertain terrains.
This obsession requires leaving the safety of the known. It’s a commitment to living at the edges of comfort, where true growth happens. It’s about understanding that the journey itself is the reward, that the destination is a mirage, a fleeting illusion.
To be obsessed is to be in perpetual motion, a dynamic dance between stillness and change, between being and becoming.
I’ve learned that this kind of obsession doesn’t just change your life—it changes how others perceive you. When you live with that kind of conviction, people take notice. They sense that you’re driven by something deeper, something that can’t be swayed by external forces.
The Chocolate Taoist is my offering to the world—a way to share the transformative power of living a life rooted in purpose, in alignment with the flow of the universe.
So here I stand, a Black Taoist nomad, obsessed with imparting wisdom that transcends time, culture, and circumstance. My mission is not just an idea—it’s a living, breathing force that guides every decision, every step I take. And in that, I find not just meaning, but an expansiveness that knows no bounds.

The Tao is my favorite way of seeing what is. ☯️
All the things in nature are together in one place.
Each thing is moved by nature’s pattern.
Signals give direction.
The whole divides in to parts. 🧬
The parts move around and in and out of each other.
Like water flowing in rivers 💦 and oceans 🌊 and changing into vapor 💨 and snow ⛄️❄️and ice 🧊.
The water flows in and out of creatures 🐿️ and plants 🌱.
Every part is circulating, round and round. 💫☄️🪐⛈️🦠🧬🌪️
Things unFold 🌱 then enFold 🍂 .
Everything in the UNIverse fits 🧩 because each part belongs to the ONE whole cosmic song 🎻 and dance 💃🏻.
I have been a toast for 35years. I think you should read the Tao again. Maybe from its original author Lao-tzu
