Change is inevitable but can be so hard when you're stuck in attachment. That was me for most of my life. Letting go and embracing what is is so challenging, but so worth it, leading you to new adventures, like the one you're on. Who knows what settling in one place will do! I'm excited to find out!

So much to unpack in your posts. All I can say is I hope (and believe) that this 2-night stay will turn into a years-long love affair with your new life. You did the "nomad thing" and survived it, often with aplomb. I reckon it's truly time for some new sneakers. Take them to the hole!

I’ve always called the neutral phase “being in the grey”….like someone in a deep fog it feels simpler to just quietly wait for the fog to pass than to make one’s way through it. The problem is that life is dynamic and if you wait too long the choice will get made for you because nothing can stay in the grey forever.

The funny thing about humans is that we stay out of fear of what may come with change this missing the gift of living in the day we are in….and once on the other side most of us find that our fears were infinitely worse than the act of changing itself.

Thank you for this post. I recently left Southern California (where I had been my whole life) for the Midwest. The change and transition has been hard, but I think only because of my refusal to accept some of the truths you’re pointing to in this piece. Anyway, I needed to read this, so thank you, and best of luck in your new situation. Wishing you the best 😊

Oh wow! Where in the Midwest? I was born in Ohio but have lived in Indianapolis, South Bend, Chicago, and Evanston.

Beautiful! You got me to reflect on my changes (most recently career wise) and reminisce on my own arrival in Fort Collins and even people who’ve come in and out of my life, all while reading yours and the I Ching’s spiritual perspective on transition. An encouraging and inspiring read for anyone traversing change.

Thank You. And Fort Collins is indeed a wonderful place to immerse oneself in a transition.

I need to read the I Ching. Much change in my life that forced a redirection has worked out though I didn't realize it would at the time.

Yup. I recently discovered this version via a YouTube clip and have been drinking/reading it like water out of a firehose.

Also, if you wouldn't mind, I also covered my own reflections and anxieties in a deeply personal essay. Let me know if it holds up!

Love how clear and articulate you are about your experiences! It's like listening to Wise Sage in a Disney film haha. Looking forward to reading more of your work!

P.S. The subtitle is crazy :)
