I loved your line about how chaos and harmony are never far apart. It reminds that nothing ever gets fully resolved. Life just keeps unfolding and it's up to us to be present or not. I grew up not too far Logan Square and Milwaukee Avenue was part of my vocabulary, too. Now, I live in a semi-rual area so walking is very different. Thanks for this piece.

This is why I’m back in my hometown of Chicago. Endlessly fascinating and a great place to be curious!

Sandra, I didn't know you lived in Chicago. We have that in common. As well as the shift to living in a semi-rural area.

Paulette, My family left when I was around 11 and moved to California. So, I remember my Chicago years although less vividly than later years.

As a native Chicagoan, I appreciate your ode to the city I still consider home. It is a mirror of life itself. Great piece.

Yes, always a heart place for my adopted hometown. Evanston on the North Shore is my dream community — a fine blend of both idyllic and gritty. Can wait to head there for a visit this summer.

PS: I always used to say, “why pay a high tuition bill at The University of Chicago when you can just purchase a shirt.” 😂😎
