Dōgen introduced the concept of gotsu-za, "to sit like a bold mountain," or "sit boldly like a mountain." This has been meaningful to me in my meditation practice. Your section on "Keeping Still, Mountain" enhances and illuminates gotsu-za for me. l especially like, "The mountain’s stillness is not a passive state but an active form of resistance against the chaos of the world." Thank you.
Really enjoyed this one. I love the Bare Attention and Safe Spots section. It is very relatable to artistry and goal setting when in the right sprit. I find when I practice my art, I can, during the day reflect on the writing I did and feel a sense of joy recharging me. This has been helpful especially during tough moments of the day. Building mental safe places that allow us to detach from the mind that is focus on negative/danger. Thank you for the wisdom.
I feel seen with the Philly Jackson reference and mindfulness in sports. I’ve read “The Mindful athlete” by George Mumford about 5 times, no lie lol.
As always , I look forward to each of The Chocolate Taoist posts as they do not fail to bring me just what I need for the day and beyond. I'm so grateful to be part of this Substack tribe. For the coming New Year, I wish all of you the Peace you seek through mindfulness and understanding.

I love the idea of a "meditative pause." In addition to bringing peace, it makes our mindfulness grow stronger, too. Thanks for these ideas.

Thank you for those great suggestions. I especially enjoy the thought of a meditation while waiting for coffee.
These are excellent practices and powerful strategies for helping us stay grounded in our bodies and spacious in our hearts.
