Thank you! This resonates well with me: healing requires conscious participation—awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, and unresolved pain. I have two chronic illnesses and am would like to learn more about the renewal energy of qi.

Thank you for such an eloquent explanation of energy healing and for being open to understanding it. People dismiss it as “woo-woo” without seeing what it can do. And just because there isn’t a concrete explanation doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable or effective. One practitioner said, “Well, you can’t see air but we know it exists.” There are variations, I guess you could call them, of this practice, such as OMM (osteopathic manipulative medicine), which with the faintest of touching treats all the body’s systems; and “tapping,” a mind-body method to address trauma and anxiety. Another way of describing our energy/Qi is electric current. Remember the middle school science projects using our hands as contacts?
