This post reminds me of the time I took a yoga-on-the-beach class. It was actually right there, on the shores of Coronado (❤️ San Diego). Trying to stay steady on the dry sand was hilarious, and the belly laughs did release tension!

OK, this is a solid argument for me to try this! Any suggestions on where to start? I'm definitely interested in more embodied practices this year.

Yes, Shannon. That’s in the works for next month. 🙌 If you have any thoughts or ideas in that regard, I would be open to hearing them.

your essay is my mindfulness bell. I've been so stressed lately that my mind is racing, even on my mindfulness walks. it's creating a cycle of more stress. I am going to use what you wrote as a reminder to focus back on my breathing.

Thank you for the link. Some thoughts:

a. It is pleasant to realize that the old 'coordination test' of tapping the top of your head with one hand while rubbing your belly with the other is actually qigong. No wonder those annoying multitaskers from junior high school live so long.

b. If you engage in the swinging practice with some vigor, some versions of the Fitbit/Google watch will register 4 steps for each back and forth swing. (Caution: do not do it with weights, even light wrist weights, unless you want torso bruises.)

c. The old Tai Chi joke: Q: How many taiji players does it take to screw in a light bulb? A: Only one, but you will attract a crowd, each of whom says, "That's a good way, but in MY school we do it THIS way..." So, too, with 'Connecting Heaven And Earth Qigong'.

I'm going to try this as I am definitely carrying around some stress and have a hard time quieting my mind at night. I sleep on a grounding sheet, which has been incredibly helpful for sleep, so... there's that. LOL
