Thank you for posting this this morning. I read it after reading several pieces about the takeover of various government agencies, and my blood pressure was already skyrocketing. Your piece helped talk me down a bit, and for that I thank you. It has given me a lot to think about as I start my day.❤️
I still have far to go. I saw the title of this piece and thought, "Oh no! He's falling off the edge! Someone spiked his dirty chai with...with...whatever spice might induce anxiety and panic!" And then I read the piece and realized that it was I who must have drunk a sketchy cup to have ascribed that unnatural attitude to you. Maybe you are surrounded by many frazzled people who seek confirmation of their feelings, so they see your post and start to read and maybe then re-think.
Great essay! I’ll also propose a more Confucian idea for these crazy times. That of names and roles.
Are you a politician? Yes? Then do your job! If not (and if you’re not a political pundit) then send a remonstrance to your congressional delegation and stop obsessing about it.
There will be primaries for federal positions in about 15 months, but until you can cast your next vote, it doesn’t do much good to take the mental weight of jobs and power that aren’t actually yours to wield.
(This also applies to oligarchs who are trying to grab power that isn’t rightfully theirs, but again if you’re not one of them, let the Tao handle their hubris in due time.)
love your smile, Diamond! This pic of you makes me think you are laughing out loud at all the crazy antics like its all one big cosmic joke, and you are inviting all of us in on the joke. Thank you.
I appreciated the humorous imagery, it diverts from the sober and serious message of the piece. And that’s part of the point. Humor is something we can leverage for our benefit. Laugh or cry, they say. I’m feeling a little of both. The Dao does help. We don’t have control over whatever else is doing. Self care is especially importantly these days.

HA! All of us are a bit cuckoo these days with all of what’s happening. It’s a reminder to stay present in the moment.

Hey Justus. I love your Confucian suggestions. Let me cogitate on that and circle back to you.
I am so glad to have found you ❤️

Yes, trying to strike a balance as I tend to get very emotional when writing pieces like this.
That’s what happening to me this morning. I’m reading a piece about his Trump’s victory impacted a young woman. I’m in tears. 😔
That’s what happens, sometimes, when we speak from the heart or read something that speaks to the heart, we’re touched and moved.
If we can no longer connect to who we are, and what we are as humans, we’re lost. You are a good role model as I write.
Dig deeper. Always dig deeper beyond the veil of appearances.
You have an away of connecting with your audience which is moving. It’s also a gift to the world. x
Have a wonderful day, my friend.
Yes, that’s it! Real stuff.
Reading this was very calming and true. I love The Chocolate Taoist!
