Let’s face it, 2025 is already throwing some serious curveballs. The economy is wobbling, the climate feels more unhinged than ever, and political debates have gone full circus mode.
It’s no wonder you might feel like rolling out of bed with all the enthusiasm of a wet sock. But here’s the thing: tough times demand that you bring the juice—your full, vibrant, elite self—to the table every single day. Anything less, and you’re not only short changing yourself but the people who depend on your energy.
This isn’t just about showing up. It’s about how you show up. Think about it: have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt a shift because someone came in smiling, brimming with energy, and exuding good vibes? That’s the juice I’m talking about.
On the flip side, have you ever entered a room where someone was slumped over, dragging their feet, and emitting an aura of despair? That’s the vibe killer. Let’s agree not to be that person, okay?
First-Person Awakening: Bringing the Juice
Years ago while a healthcare administrator, I found myself in the throes of my own personal slump. I was that guy—the one who showed up to meetings looking like I’d wrestled with my alarm clock and lost.
My energy was low and my vibe was flatter than Kansas. Then one day, while re-reading the Tao Te Ching, I came across a line that hit me like a lightning bolt:
“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
I realized that by showing up half-heartedly, I wasn’t honoring my authentic self—or anyone else. It wasn’t about perfection or comparison; it was about showing up with intention and energy. That was my Taoist wake-up call. From that day forward, I decided to bring the juice.
The Tao of Showing Up Energetically
In Taoism, there’s a concept called “ziran,” which translates to being natural or spontaneously yourself. But here’s the kicker: “natural” doesn’t mean sluggish. It means leaning into your full vitality.
Imagine the Tao as a flowing river—always moving, always vibrant. When we’re stagnant, we’re like a dammed-up creek, cutting ourselves off from the natural energy of life.
Here’s the practical takeaway: If you’re not consciously tending to your energy, you’re doing life (and yourself) a disservice. People feel your vibe before they hear your words. So if you show up tired, uninspired, and hunched over like Gollum guarding the last donut in the breakroom, that’s what people will reflect back to you.
Conversely, if you radiate energy, people will want to match it. Energy begets energy.
Third-Person Perspective: Dressing the Part
Let’s zoom out for a moment and talk about appearances. No, this isn’t about vanity—it’s about vibrancy. One of my friends, let’s call her Maya, used to show up to work every day in muted tones and baggy sweaters. She was brilliant, but her energy screamed, “Don’t look at me!”
After a gentle nudge by a co-worker of hers, she started experimenting with brighter colors and bold accessories. Something remarkable happened: her confidence skyrocketed, her posture improved, and people gravitated toward her like moths to a flame.
Your vibe isn’t just internal—it’s external too. Taoism teaches that the inner and outer worlds are interconnected. When you dress with a little flair—whether it’s a bold scarf, a vibrant jacket, or even a funky pair of shoes—you’re signaling to the universe (and yourself) that you’re ready to engage with life.

💥 Ginseng Tea: Known as the king of herbs, ginseng is a powerhouse for boosting stamina and mental clarity. Sip a cup in the morning for a gentle energy lift.
💥 Goji Berry Elixir: Steep a handful of goji berries in hot water for 10 minutes. This sweet and tangy tea nourishes the blood and energizes the body.
💥 Ginger and Lemon Tonic: Feeling sluggish? Grate some fresh ginger, squeeze in lemon juice, and add a dash of honey to warm water. This combination fires up your digestive energy, aka your body’s powerhouse.
💥 Cordyceps Mushroom Coffee: Swap your regular coffee for this adaptogenic brew. Cordyceps mushrooms are renowned for their ability to enhance physical and mental endurance.
💥 Qi-Gong Breathing: Not technically a drink, but a quick round of deep belly breathing can work wonders. Inhale deeply for a count of four, hold for four, and exhale for six. Do this for five minutes and feel your energy shift.
Why You Matter
Let’s bring it back to you. The world needs you at your best. Your energy, your smile, your unique spark—they matter more than you know. By showing up with intention and bringing your elite self to the table, you’re not just transforming your own life—you’re lifting up everyone around you.
So tomorrow morning, as you sip your ginseng tea or don your boldest scarf, take a moment to remind yourself of this: Life might be throwing punches, but you’re in the ring to win. Bust out that bright smile, stand tall, and bring the juice. Because the Tao doesn’t flow to those who wait—it flows to those who engage.

I see auras. When I was a teenager, the director of my high school church youth group was a woman from the Caribbean who had an uncanny knack for ALWAYS dressing like her aura. I'd never seen anything like it. Her general aura color (although it changed a lot) always matched the colors she was wearing. And she always chose bright colors. She was brilliance from the inside out.
