thank you for this. I have been grieving so much for the city that I found healing and growth in. I feel like I became a human in my 12 years in LA, and I have been consumed by images on the destruction, and overwhelmed by the kindness and human response of people coming out to help their neighbors.

I am going to remember to return to breath.

Hi Elizabeth, I have been grieving mightily over L.A., arguably the most grief I have felt since my dad’s passing in 1996.

My empathic side has been on tilt, which has prompted me to go deeper in my meditation and journaling.

Yes, one breath at a time.

Thank you, Diamond. We cannot control external events, but we can control how we react to them. For me it’s a time for prayer, and stillness. 🙏🏽

It's so true that when we remain open to feeling the sadness, loss, and grief for what the community in LA is experiencing, it can trigger feelings of grief for our personal losses. It has for me. And I don't think that's a bad outcome. It helps to reconnect us to our humanity and compassion. And as you write, finding ways to remain grounded in ourselves while looking for the good that will and is emerging is equally important. Thank you.
