Iceland’s volcanic landscape is a testament to the untamed power that surges from deep within the Earth. Beneath its icy exterior lies a molten core, generating enough geothermal energy to power cities, heat homes, and create a landscape that breathes fire and steam.
The more I reflect on self-actualization, the more I see a parallel between this natural force and the way human beings reach their highest potential.
Much like the Earth’s geothermal energy, our deepest power comes from within—an energy source that is often ignored, suppressed, or feared. This power is what ancient traditions refer to as Kundalini, the dormant serpent coiled at the base of the spine, waiting to rise.
In Taoist practice, it is the Dantian system, the energy centers within the body that regulate vitality, transformation, and enlightenment.
And in the I Ching, this energy aligns with the principles of natural flow—Hexagram 50, the Cauldron, represents a vessel where raw potential is refined into wisdom and action.
The key to self-actualization is learning how to tap into this inner geothermal power—to let the heat rise, to channel it, and to use it to manifest a life that aligns with our highest purpose.
The Law of Attraction: Energy Moves Where You Place It
People often misunderstand the Law of Attraction as a surface-level exercise in wishful thinking. It’s not about simply wanting something. It’s about directing energy toward it with the force of an underground geyser waiting to erupt.
The universe mirrors back to you the intensity and quality of your own energy, just as geothermal steam finds its way to the surface only when pressure builds from the deep.
If your core energy is trapped in self-doubt, fear, and hesitation, then like a dormant volcano, you stay stagnant—your manifestations weak, your power unrealized. But when you cultivate your inner fire, raising your vibration through intention, discipline, and presence, you become an unstoppable force of creation.
In other words, you attract opportunities, people, and circumstances that align with that energy.
The I Ching speaks to this in Hexagram 24, Return, symbolizing the moment when energy begins to rise again after dormancy. When we return to our true power, when we trust in the flow of our own geothermal essence, everything begins to shift.
Rising From the Core: The Kundalini Parallel
In Kundalini Yoga, the energy at the base of the spine must be activated and allowed to rise through the chakras, much like magma pushes upward to breach the surface. When this energy is blocked—whether by emotional wounds, societal conditioning, or fear of our own power—our potential remains untapped.
Kundalini doesn’t rise through passive hope. Rather, it rises through movement, intention, and discipline. This is the same principle that fuels Iceland’s hot springs—when tectonic forces shift, energy is released, and the land transforms.
Similarly, when we consciously work on removing energetic blockages, our personal power surges to the surface, bringing insight, clarity, and unstoppable drive.
Five Ways to Ignite Your Inner Geothermal Boiling Pot
💥 Cultivate Your Dantian: The Power Center of the Body
In Taoist practices, the Lower Dantian is considered the body’s true power plant. Located just below the navel, it stores and regulates vital life force energy. Developing awareness of this core—through Qigong, deep breathing, or martial arts—fuels your actions with grounded intensity.
💥 Align Your Energy with Your Intentions
Your thoughts are not just passing clouds—they shape your reality. If your inner world is in chaos, your outer world will reflect that. Focus your mind as if you are directing geothermal steam to power a turbine—clear, concentrated, and unstoppable.
💥 Use Resistance as Fuel
In Iceland, geothermal energy emerges because of pressure beneath the surface. Likewise, life’s challenges are not meant to crush you; they are designed to heat you up, push you forward, and transform you. Stop fearing resistance—embrace it as a necessary force for your evolution.
💥 Practice Embodied Movement to Release Blockages
Sitting on knowledge does nothing. Sitting on energy does even less. Move your body—dance, shake, practice yoga, walk in nature—do whatever it takes to keep energy flowing. Your physicality is an extension of your energy field, and stagnation is your enemy.
💥 Surrender to the Process—Trust the Boil
The greatest mistake people make is fighting their own transformation. Just like Iceland’s geysers don’t apologize for erupting, your energy isn’t meant to stay suppressed. Let it rise. Expand. Transform. Trust in the process, knowing that the heat within you is leading you toward your highest self.
Become the Geothermal Force You Were Meant to Be
We are not meant to be lukewarm beings, merely existing on the surface, disconnected from our inner power. We are meant to be geothermal forces, rising from within, shaping the landscape of our lives with the raw intensity of our deepest energy.
Self-actualization is not an abstract ideal; it is an eruption of consciousness, a mastery of inner forces, a willingness to direct our energy where it is needed most. Just as Iceland turns its fire into fuel, we, too, must tap into the volcanic reservoir of energy within—to manifest, to transform, and to rise.
The heat is there. The power is within you. The only question is—will you let it boil?
This resonated! You prompted me to explore another way of thinking. I love the idea of harnessing the geothermal power. Every time I read your writing it takes me on a new journey of discovery. Thank you.
I love this metaphor on intentional action and aligning ourself with what we want to manifest.
Thank you!
